It's no coincidence that this observance aligns with festive season, as people are more likely to focus on adopting and caring for cats during a time of giving and community spirit.

Cats are famous for their love of sleep and spend 70% of their lives  sleeping. This works out to around 13 to 16 hours a day – almost twice as much sleep as humans tend to need.

 House cats share 95.6% of genetic makeup with tigers...

A study discovered that house cats share 95.6% of their genetic makeup with tigers. They share a lot of similar behaviors such as scent and urine marking and prey stalking and pouncing. 

Cats can jump 6x their height...

Cats have an amazing jumping ability and can jump up to 6 times its own height thanks to the strength of their hind legs! From the ground, they can leap between 5 and 6 feet and can easily clear a fence of this height.

 The oldest cat in the world was 38…

The oldest cat to ever live was 38. Creme Puff the cat won a Guinness World Record for living to be 38 years and 3 days old! Funny enough, Creme Puff's owner also owned the 2nd oldest cat in the world, Granpa Rexs Allen, who lived to be 34 years and 
2 months old! 

A cat went to space...

In 1963 a cat went to space! Felicette, also known as ‘Astrocat’ was the first and only cat to go to space.

The richest cat in the world had 7-million-pounds...

According to Guinness World Records, the richest cat in the world was Blackie. When his millionaire owner passed away, he refused to recognize his family in his will and instead left his 7-million-pound fortune to Blackie! (This is equal to $8,869,175 US dollars!)
